Tapaktuan: Dragon City in the province of Aceh



Tapaktuan is the capital of South Aceh, Aceh province. The city has an area of 92.68 km² with a population of approximately 22.343 inhabitants. When the tsunami of 2004, the city is protected island of Simeulue so the brunt of the devastating waves split and reduced intensity when it reached the coast. City Tapaktuan save interesting stories about the legend of the dragon and the natural marine tourism has not been widely known and visited.


The topography of the city is at an altitude of 500 m above sea level led to a wet tropical climate with natural beauty, the cluster of rocky beaches and charming bays. Marine tourism can be done here, as in the Gulf Coast and Monitor Tapaktuan Labuan Haji. There are also other interesting tourist destinations, namely, Tourism Cold Water, Panorama Hatta, Island Two, Genting Crocodile, It Cool Panjupian, Niagara Twi Lhok, Stone Sailing, or Cave Kalam.


Tapaktuan is a coastal town in the south coast of Aceh's strategic position with a natural harbor and became the basis of the marine economy in the province. Its area is directly adjacent to Southeast Aceh District in the north, to the south by the Indonesian Ocean, on the west by the Aceh Barat Daya, and in the east by the District Singkil and Subulussalam.


Tapaktuan known as Dragon City which is derived from a legend of the dragon's daughter and Mr Tapa are already a community oral history for generations. People mention South Aceh as Naga City. In fact, when you enter the city, approximately one hundred meters from the east office of Regent South Aceh will see a dragon right on the roadside wall.

Legend of the Dragon tells the story of a pair of male and female dragons that inhabit the bay (Tapaktuan). Both were expelled from the country of China because it does not have children. Once it finds a figure second dragon baby girl floating in the ocean and then maintained with loving care. Moving the baby grow up into a beautiful girl who loved the dragon pair.

Once emerged a ship of the Royal Asralanoka in South India where 17 years ago the king lost baby drifting out to sea. The king recognized the girl as her baby is missing advance and want to ask them to return a pair of dragons. However, a pair of dragon was rejected, causing fights in the ocean and harass an ascetic who was great and dwelt in caves Kalam, which is known as Mr Tapa.

Mr Tapa were disturbed when he was imprisoned immediately break up fights with a pair of dragon king of the Kingdom Asralanoka. Mr Tapa asked for a pair of dragons to return the girl to her parents. However, both the dragon rejected and challenged Mr Tapa to fight. A fight broke out in the ocean where the dragon defeated by Mr Tapa and the girl was returned to her parents. So she got the nickname as 'Princess Dragon' and returned with his parents but they did not return to the Kingdom Asralanoka but chose to live on its shores. Their presence is believed to be the forerunner of society Tapaktuan.

Male dragon killed as a result of baton Mr Tapa. His body and blood splattered shatter spread redden soil, rocks, hills, and also sea water. In 2003 Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) never made a pilgrimage to the Tomb of Mr Tapa. There are many things to do during your visit Tapaktuan. Besides beaches are clean and natural, also recognized the magnitude of the coastal rocks. The beach is not much visited by tourists so it still kept clean. Cold Water Beach, is a sloping beach is very unique and beautiful. Its location adjacent to the charming waterfall in District Samadua, approximately 17 km from the city Tapaktuan, Kab. South Aceh. Stone Coast Sailing, presenting stunning natural scenery. Same location in District Two, South Aceh. Wonderful addition to the landscape, on the beach can also be used as a place for fishing.
Niagara Level Seven, in the form of a seven-tiered waterfall levels. Each level has a pool for swimming. Its location in the District Tapaktuan, South Aceh. Here the landscape is very beautiful with mature trees suitable for weekend recreation.


Mr Tapa tomb, located near Mount Lights, exactly in front of the Mosque Tuo, the Village Padang, Padang Village, District Tapaktuan. This bathing place suitable visited with family. Enjoy art Dabus Rapa'i Ngadap normally undertaken in meunasah (mushalla) on Friday night by using rapa'i or drum without remembrance. Dabus Rapa'i usually held at a wedding ceremony and other celebrations, this art is a combination of dance and science of metaphysics that demonstrate the science is immune. There is also a Theatre Art Haba which is the art of storytelling in the form of poetry. Folklore, fairy tales, legends or spoken with iringian musical instruments flute, drums, and other drumming.
